Seminar in Cocoa Beach, Tales of Old Brevard; "Those Were the Days"

A series of history story telling seminars by Ray Osborne.
Take a journey in time this Wednesday from 8 pm to 9 pm in the movie theater at the beautiful Resort on Cocoa Beach, 1600 North Atlantic Boulevard, Cocoa Beach, Florida. Local storyteller, historian, and author Ray Osborne not only tells it like it was but also seasons his multimedia presentations with humor and awe. There are six separate hour-long presentations in the series.
Ray Osborne has entertained audiences at resorts and retirement communities with tales of the rich history and heritage of the Florida. By using historic pictures combined with fascinating and humorous anecdotes, he makes history a fun experience for all the family.
This week at Florida Tales,
Ancient Native Cultures of Florida.
Large screen slide presentation on what is known of the lost tribes of Florida. Starts off with a DVD show from the Florida Anthropological Society entitled, "Shadows and Reflections: Florida's Lost People". Continues with slide show that includes pictures of what these ancient people may have looked like, what they left behind; mounds, archeological artifacts, their beliefs, their customs, social structure, family and tribal life and some interesting unproven theories. Tribes discussed include but not limited to; Apalachee, Timucua, Tequesta, Surroque, Ais, Calusa, and Arawak. Highlights of notable archaeological sites such as Windover Farms, Key Marco, Mount Royal, Miami Circle will also be shown.
